Books and reading have always been an important part of my life. When I was very young, my grandma was the library director at our local public library. Years later, after she had retired, I became a librarian at the same library and worked there for several years before taking a part-time job at a local coffee shop, which gives me more time to do what I love, to read and to review books! A few of my favorite authors are Aimee Bender, Diane Chamberlain, and Curtis Sittenfeld however, I will read almost any book I come across! In my spare time you can find me reading (of course), volunteering at a wildlife animal rehab, or hanging out with my three house rabbits.
Sometimes I go awhile without reading a spiritual book. When I was a teen, my favorite book series was "Left Behind", and I had only discovered the series by first reading every other book in our chur…
When I looked at the cover of this book, I didn't really get a good idea of what might happen inside the covers of it. Once I began reading, I couldn't put this little book down! Within the first few …
Having read California a few years ago, I basically knew nothing of Edan Lepucki's writing style. I read more books than my brain can handle sometimes, and this results in me losing importan…
Just glancing at the cover of this book had me dreading it. The picture on the cover shouted "BORING!" to me. But once I opened the covers of this book, I was hooked. With a little bit of my…
It has been a while since I've read a book about teens that is set in "real life". I guess I've been reading a lot of fantasy recently! It was refreshing to read this novel and I could envision it hap…
If you like your books creepy and true to life, then Ill Will may just appeal to you. Fair warning though: you'll be in for a pretty shocking ride! This book was a fast-paced read, and I fou…
The thing that drew me to this book initially was the cover, which I know I'm not supposed to base my opinions or choices off of, but I do often anyway. Doing a little bit of research on this book rev…
Story collections intrigue me. The subject of the stories can be similar, or quite different, although in most story collections there is a continued theme throughout the book. After reading the first…
I can't say I had high hopes for this book before I began reading it. Non-fiction is often hit or miss with me, so I was a little bit wary when I picked up this title. I can't say that this story is u…
Having read some of Brunonia Barry's previous books years ago, I wasn't quite sure what to expect from The Fifth Petal. I was immediately intrigued by the subject of the Salem Witch Trials a…
If I were to judge this book by its cover, I would assume it to be a nice inspirational story, perhaps a book published by a religious publisher. But, as the saying goes, you can't judge a book by its…
I have been so impressed with Jodi Picoult's last few books, and so I can't really say I was surprised that this, her newest novel, is superb. I inherited the love of medical books from my mom, and al…
