Books and reading have always been an important part of my life. When I was very young, my grandma was the library director at our local public library. Years later, after she had retired, I became a librarian at the same library and worked there for several years before taking a part-time job at a local coffee shop, which gives me more time to do what I love, to read and to review books! A few of my favorite authors are Aimee Bender, Diane Chamberlain, and Curtis Sittenfeld however, I will read almost any book I come across! In my spare time you can find me reading (of course), volunteering at a wildlife animal rehab, or hanging out with my three house rabbits.
Being a teenager is hard. It's amazing so many teens survive, given all the chances they have to mess up, trip up, or give up. But how often do we really get a good look at how a teen lives? How often…
I will admit that I was a bit leery about this book. I tried watching the movie Cloud Atlas when it was first out on DVD and I just could not get into it. The idea sounded so cool, but the story just …
Harriet Brown's previous book Brave Girl Eating was right up my alley. It was all about the struggles a mother and daughter faced when fighting off the deadly disease that is anorexia. Havin…

Do you have a child who is deathly afraid of spiders? Or maybe you have a phobia of your own that needs to be challenged and conquered? This book was a fun way to look at fears and what they…
It seems that young readers are turning to graphic novels more and more. Perhaps it is because they are transitioning from picture books, and are craving something similar to that. Or maybe the cute c…
If an advance copy of a book comes in its own special sleeve and wrapped in shrink wrap, you know you're probably getting something special. At least, that's how I felt. This book was so beautiful, ev…
On Good Reads, the first few words of the synopsis of this book are "In the near future...". If that wasn't going to attract my attention, I don't know what would. Unfortunately, once I started readin…
I knew from the get-go that I wanted to read this book. Detroit and its state of disrepair interests me, but the idea of a somewhat "future" Detroit--one where men go about claiming bits and pieces of…
I've only read a small handful of books about characters that undergo a heart transplant. I think one of the first ones I read was by Lurlene McDaniel. I remember being quite fascinated by it. I picke…
I can't believe this book has been out since February, and I am just now reading it. Don't make the same mistake! Run, don't walk, to your nearest library or bookstore and get a copy. It is so good. T…
This book had buzz long before it was released. It was being recommended as a book to read if you enjoyed Gone Girl (which means pretty much everyone would supposedly like this boo…
