Book Review

Publisher's Note:

Elliot Hooper wants nothing more than a regular life for him and his mom. Then a Constellation of the Zodiac crashes from the sky into a pile of cow dung in front of him, and that wish explodes in a spray of...well...you know. Virgo, a 1,964-year-old girl, is on a routine mission to Earth and ABSOLUTELY FORBIDDEN from interacting with mortals. So of course she takes Elliot along with her. But when an evil daemon named Thanatos escapes to wreak terrible havoc, their routine mission turns not-so-routine. For if Elliot and Virgo don't track down the retired Zeus and the rest of the Olympians and help them catch Thanatos, mortals and gods alike won't be long for this earth. Elliot Hooper's life just got a whole lot more LEGENDARY!…

Who Let the Gods Out?

by Max Evans

Overall Book Review:

Olympian Gods are always the picture of perfection.  Chiseled good looks, perfect super-human abilities, endless knowledge and of course, nothing ever goes wrong–unless you are a character in Max Evans’ Who Let the Gods Out?  This ridiculous adventure novel will leave you laughing, shaking your head, and maybe feeling just a little bit better about being a human.

Virgo decides that she has had enough of being treated like the new girl on the block.  She decides to entrust herself with an age-old delivery task.  Elliot is a boy with the weight of the world on his shoulders.  A large sum of money is due on his family farm and his mom’s mental state has left him shouldering all the responsibility.  When their two worlds collide, Elliot becomes the only mortal child who can save the world, and Virgo may lose everything she holds dear.

Propped up by a cast of Greek mythology characters who are just a bit left of the history books, a nosey neighbor just trying to make a buck, a teacher out to see Elliot fail, a litany of fart jokes, flirting Olympians, and ninja-skill wielding British queens, this book will cheer even the darkest hours.

A great read for the younger age set, especially boys, who are looking for easy-to-read narrative, practical jokes, and a whole lot of adventure.  My guess is Elliot’s adventures aren’t done yet.

About the Reviewer

I am a full-time mom, full-time wife, and overtime reader. I have been an avid reader for as long as anyone can remember. It must run in the family because both my mother and grandmother are also voracious readers and often pass books back and forth. Almost any genre can spark my interest, but I often go in streaks, reading a bunch of books from one genre, then switching to another for a while and back again.
