Nicole M. Miller’s debut novel Until Our Time Comes transports readers to World War II Poland. As one might expect, the topic is heavy and filled with tragedies. However, this book is different because it focuses on a unique aspect of this challenging time in history–horses. It is based, in part, on actual events.

Almost from the beginning, the reader is drawn in by the characters and their personalities. Miller does an excellent job of weaving their stories and emotions throughout the story. The author avoids trivializing people’s feelings and validates their concerns. While a tale is being told of World War II, a tale is also being told about people’s lives and experiences.

The book concludes with a short summary of the inspiration for this story. The author discusses where she created characters and events and those that were real. It is going to be exciting to see what topic Nicole. M. Miller has selected for her next book.
