Susan May Warren begins her Sky King Ranch series with Sunrise. As is the case with many of Warren’s books, the author makes frequent references to characters and experiences from other series. It does not require one to have read them all, but it is fun to again meet up with these characters. The story takes place in modern day Alaska.
Fans of the works of Susan May Warren will not be disappointed here. It follows a similar pattern. The major characters have past hurts, misdeeds, life experiences, and misunderstandings they have to overcome in order to move forward in their lives. Naturally, part of the moving forward process involves rekindled romance.
The story itself keeps a steady pace and little time is wasted between action sequences and daring Alaska rescues and mishaps. The location plays a key role in the story line and is not just a nice setting for a novel. The book is a quick and easy read, but not without uncertainties and peril.
