Publisher's Note:

When former Navy SEAL and lifelong bachelor Ranger Kingston is called upon to take part in a rescue mission to save his brother Colt, who has been kidnapped by terrorists in Nigeria, he is shocked to find among the hostages a woman he knows and could never forget. Noemi Sutton was attempting to return a young girl to her family in Boko Haram territory when she and the girl found themselves taken hostage, along with several others. And while Ranger Kingston may be able to get the hostages away from their captors, he'll need Noemi's help if he ever hopes to get out of Nigeria alive. Her solution? Pose as husband and wife. But when her uncle discovers the union, he insists on a traditional Nigerian wedding--binding Noemi to a man destined to break her heart. Worse, she's discovered the real reason she was kidnapped, and anyone around her is bound to be caught in the cross fire. Including her so-called new husband. She'll need to figure out a way to leave the man she loves if she wants to save his life. Sunburst

by Susan May Warren

Overall Book Review:

Sunburst continues Susan May Warren’s Sky King Ranch Series. Although it is not directly a part of the story, the dedication to the author’s daughter in-law is sweet and sets the tone for the book. The adventures range from the jungles of Africa to the frozen tundra of Alaska, and there is never a dull moment in this story. The author follows her traditional pattern of having characters that have emotional struggles resulting from their pasts. The plot moves the story along and somewhere along the way, the characters are able to find a way to overcome or at least begin to confront their challenges. Learning to rely on God more than one’s self is a theme throughout the book. The African culture and heritage described in the story is endearing and informative.  The reader can tell the author has a great deal of respect for the culture she is describing. Although there are a few brief moments that focus on the description of the African ways, the author grafts the moments together with action that quickly takes the characters to their next destination. The story includes plenty of romance and danger. It involves precarious situations and difficult injuries. Ultimately, readers will find themselves caught up in wondering what might happen next–and then just like that, the story is over. You will have to read book three of the series in order to find out what really does happen next.
