From the maker of Desktop Gremlins comes a unique activity book. As the book claims, it requires “no glue, no tape, and no complicated folding”. This book has thick, perforated pages that makes cutting and assembly easy. There is a wide margin of cutting error around the characters, which allows for a larger audience to participate. Each character comes with picture instructions on how to assemble as well as the story and plot line for that character. Also, there is a website: papercuttables.com where you can go to join the Papercuttables Club and gain access to another character!
The villain, Dr. Scatterbrain, threatens to ‘scatter’ the papercuttables which is comprised of 14 characters which are based on common folk lore, historical people, and popular creatures. They are relatable to both boys and girls and include cut-outs of aliens, dragon, werewolf, vampire, mermaid, elf, robot, superhero, dinosaur, and more!
This genius idea come to life is great for advanced cutting skills and would work well as a summer work book for anyone working on fine motor skills.
I highly recommend this book! I hope they make one for younger audiences with simpler cutting strokes. My only complaint is that the characters do not interact with each other. Each character is given a ranking of powers on the power meter; however, they don’t use them individually or as a group. In the end, you don’t know what happens to them. Then again, that leaves the destiny of these 3D characters into the creative hands of the child.
