One Last Stand

by Susan May Warren

Overall Book Review:

The exciting conclusion to Susan May Warren’s Alaska Air One Rescue series, One Last Stand, really grabs the reader’s attention. After all of the hints dropped in previous books, the story of London Brooks and Shep Watson is finally here. Although it could be read as a standalone tale, so many backstories are intertwined that the three earlier books should be read first.

Fans of Susan May Warren will not be disappointed here. The book is packed full of interesting action, emotional angst, romance, and daring rescues. This particular story is a little lighter on the Alaska rescue side and heavier on the action. Readers spend less time in Alaska and more abroad with characters saving themselves and the world.

As a regular reader of Susan May Warren’s books, there are certain expectations that Warren fulfilled in her typical fashion. However, she demonstrated her skills as an author when she put in a little surprise that seemed impossible to recover from…nope, no spoiler coming here. Suffice to say by the end of the book, all was righted and the novel concluded in such a way as to make it clear readers will hear more about certain characters in future stories, but the main protagonists in this series have had their experiences told in a satisfying manner. Definitely not a relaxing read, but certainly interesting.
