One Last Shot by Susan May Warren kicks off her Alaska Air One Rescue series. If you are familiar with and enjoy Warren’s writing style, you will not be disappointed. Although the book does not require one to have read other books by the author, readers will be pleased to find characters from other series. This book is a mixture of action and relationship building.
The main characters in the story, Oaken Fox and Boo Kingston, both have issues from their past that they must overcome. In between their learning to handle these challenges, they have to perform real life rescues. The plot of redemption and forgiveness never seems to grow old. This is a work of Christian fiction and as one might expect, there are many references to God and prayer.
The rescue sequences keep readers on the edge of their seats and leave them feeling just a little bit cold. The author is quick to warm things up with some romance and relationship building. This is a quick read, but it ends in disappointment because the next book is not out yet…don’t worry, no cliff hangers, just an urge to find out what is going to happen with the other characters. Enjoy this jaunt into the Alaska wilderness.
