One Final Breath concludes Lynn H. Blackburn’s series Dive Team Investigations. Finishing this book is sort of like saying goodbye to some old friends. The close relationships between the dive team members is touching and inspiring. In a world full of challenges, it is nice to see people who support one another through the good and the bad times.
The story itself follows the dive team as it tries to solve a murder. Blackburn has struck a great balance between advancing the solving of the crime and developing and exploring the complex relationships of the various characters. As was true in the previous books in the series, Blackburn has figured out how to bring out the relationships without allowing the crime solving to become the focus of the story.
Readers who don’t really want to delve into characters’ personal lives and just want an edge of their seats, nail-biting thriller might not love this book. Those who love connecting to characters on an emotional level will enjoy it. Points to ponder include guilt, forgiveness, redemption, love and dedication.
