Book Review

Publisher's Note:

All Dylan wants is mojo. What is mojo? It's power. The ability to command respect. It's everything Dylan doesn't have. He gets no respect at school, and when he finds the dead body of a classmate, even the police push him around. All the thanks he gets for trying to help the investigation with his crime drama skills is a new nickname at school: Body Bag. So when Dylan hears about a missing rich girl from the other side of town, he jumps at the chance to dive into this mystery. Surely if he cracks a case involving a girl this beautiful and this rich, he'll get not only a hefty cash reward, but the mojo he's looking for. His investigation takes him into the world of an elite private high school and an underground club called Gangland. As Dylan—along with his loyal friends Audrey and Randy—falls down the rabbit hole, lured by the power of privilege, he begins to lose himself. And the stakes of the game keep getting higher.…

Mojo

by Tim Tharp

Overall Book Review:

Mojo is a very interesting book. The voice is informal, although that’s explained at the end, and it helps you connect better to the main character, as if the protaganist is directly talking to you and telling you his story. The plotline is so gripping, it’s impossible to leave without knowing what happens next. I’ve always been a big mystery lover, and Mojo has one of the most complex plotlines I’ve ever read. New clues keep appearing and new evidence is discovered, twisting and turning, and keeping you guessing “Whodunit?” till the very end. I would recommend this book to mystery lovers and teenagers who want to get their reading mojo on.

About the Reviewer

Ever since I was little, reading has been a huge part of my life, and even now I find it is one of my favorite things to do! Usually when I go to the library, I end up leaving with embarrassingly huge stacks of books, which I usually finish within the week. I’ll read almost any genre, though I prefer fantasy and mystery – Sarah Beth Durst and Shannon Hale being some of my favorite authors.
