Patricia Bradley continues the Memphis Cold Case series with Justice Betrayed.  It felt a bit on the slow side.  Not a lot happened except the main characters drove around and picked up clues here and there.  Then, as is often the case with these sorts of stories–surprise, the guilty party is discovered, but it was a little too late. 

There was supposed to be an element of romance, too, but not really.  This particular book will likely leave romance fans underwhelmed and unsatisfied.  Perhaps if all the books in the series are read at once when the series is completed then it wouldn’t be lacking.  It almost felt as though the author added the romance because an editor said so, but so little happens that it would have been better to have the main characters just be good friends.

The story itself wasn’t too bad, but things seemed disjointed and not really compelling.  Those hoping to pick this up should read the previous novels because there are a lot of references to the other events.  Justice Betrayed is not a bad read, just not a favorite.
