Iris and the Aloha Wedding Adventure

Overall Book Review:

Iris and the Aloha Wedding by Lynelle Woolley is a chapter book for readers ages 7-9.  This is a book that actually lives up to the publisher’s note.  Readers who are ready to move past a Junie B. Jones to more advanced vocabulary and more mature characters, without a daunting page count, will find this series to be a nice fit.  Clocking in at about 88 pages, this novel has modern and charming illustrations throughout that complement the storyline nicely.  The young characters are positive, friendly, kind, helpful, and feel slightly older (in a good way), which may be just perfect for those young ladies who are seven going on sixteen.  The educational aspects of the Hawaiian culture are lightly woven in and do not distract from the story.  Young girls should enjoy Iris and the Aloha Wedding because really, who doesn’t love a good wedding?
