Hearts on the Fly by Toni Shiloh is a work of modern, Christian, romantic fiction. The main characters both have a lot of issues. Both of the main characters have to learn to deal with some of those issues before they can move forward in their relationship.
In the interest of avoiding potential spoilers, the exact nature of these issues will not be shared here. However, it feels as though the character of Val Elliot has some deep-rooted familial issues that she should have recognized as issues long before now. As the story progresses, there are a few peripheral characters that stand out as awesome people and awesome friends. Shout out to Val’s stepmother and a few members of a hockey team.
There are tender, heart-wrenching moments and sweet romantic scenes. The story is filled with all sorts of conflicts, challenges, and opportunities. Although the story of the two protagonists reaches a satisfactory end, there is still much to be discovered about the Elliot women. Looking forward the release of the second book.
