He Should Have Told the Bees by Amanda Cox has a lot of potential. It is written from the perspective of two different women who have experienced two very different lives. They are intriguing and readers will be interested in learning more about their lives and the secrets surrounding them.
The author has a background in professional counseling and this is where the story starts to drag. There are many sections of the book that are focused on counseling sessions the characters are having, but they seem to go on for a long time and feel as though the author wrote the book in order to fit these counseling sessions into the story. A little too much time is spent on these and it feels like reading a textbook scenario in a counseling guide.
If this doesn’t cause the reader to put the book down or skip to the end, the rest of the tale is not bad. Almost every character has some emotional issue or other, but they can be quite charming. Romance, forgiveness, mystery, and heartache all come together as the author explores the lives of Beckett Walsh and Callie Peterson.
