Book one of Lake City Heroes Series, Double Take, starts off intense and a bit frightening. Lynette Eason specializes in mysteries that pull you in as the characters race to follow the clues and figure out what is happening. This is not a book for those wanting a lovely read about romance and happiness. Double Take is all one would expect of an Eason novel.

The characters in the story have their distinct story lines which dictate their actions and the author tells the story from both perspectives. And, just for fun, she adds a third perspective to the mix, that of the mysterious antagonist. The devious and maliciousness of the unpleasant characters causes the reader to pause and wonder if such hatred would ever be worth it.

It is clear from the start that romance is blooming even amidst the challenges. It reaches a point where the reader wants to have the bad guy captured so as to allow the characters to spend more time on their newfound relationship. The underlying message is one of hope, strength and overcoming.
