Books and reading have always been an important part of my life. When I was very young, my grandma was the library director at our local public library. Years later, after she had retired, I became a librarian at the same library and worked there for several years before taking a part-time job at a local coffee shop, which gives me more time to do what I love, to read and to review books! A few of my favorite authors are Aimee Bender, Diane Chamberlain, and Curtis Sittenfeld however, I will read almost any book I come across! In my spare time you can find me reading (of course), volunteering at a wildlife animal rehab, or hanging out with my three house rabbits.

For some reason I've always been a bit fascinated by wilderness survival and have read several fiction and non-fiction books about it in the past. I think my first experience reading about it was prob…
Several years ago, I read Emily Rapp Black's book The Still Point of the Turning World, a memoir that chronicles the birth of her first child and the expectations she and her husband had for all …
There are some books that you don't expect to be something that will pull you in, and then they do. Every Single Lie was definitely one of those books for me. It isn't a mystery per se, howe…
We all know that colleges and which one students are admitted to can be a big deal. Families take pride in which colleges their kids get into and which sports teams they cheer for on game day. How wel…
To me, part of the beauty of poetry is the translation of metaphors and sorting out what the author is trying to get across to readers. This short collection of poems is often about the earth and huma…
Ellen Hopkins is known for writing unflinchingly about tough subjects in many teen novels in verse. As a teen, I remember picking up her chunky books at the library and reading them out of sight of my…
