Books and reading have always been an important part of my life. When I was very young, my grandma was the library director at our local public library. Years later, after she had retired, I became a librarian at the same library and worked there for several years before taking a part-time job at a local coffee shop, which gives me more time to do what I love, to read and to review books! A few of my favorite authors are Aimee Bender, Diane Chamberlain, and Curtis Sittenfeld however, I will read almost any book I come across! In my spare time you can find me reading (of course), volunteering at a wildlife animal rehab, or hanging out with my three house rabbits.

From the start of this story, the Eaton family seems to be quite dysfunctional. Opening on a scene of a Mother's Day gathering, sibling rivalry and contempt are quite palpable. Then, a few days later,…
Elizabeth Smart is brutally honest in this memoir of her time living with her captors in the mountains near her home. At times I felt that she was trying a little too hard to prove her own innocence i…
This book is the first volume in a series of Jane Austen novels that are being re-written in a modern style. Having never read the original classic (shame on me!), I had nothing to compare this book t…
The Night Guest is a beautiful book, inside and out. If a glance at the bright cover doesn't get you to read this book, the synopsis should. Everyone knows someone who is elderly and that ol…

In this dazzling fiction novel that doubles as a light mystery, we are introduced to a young girl named Cathy who is newly orphaned and now living in a new town with her grandmother and to t…
This enchanting book starts out with a tale of a group of boys out to play and paints a picture of an innocent childhood. A small act of cruelty gets blown out of proportion and is not soon …
Hyperbole and a Half began as a blog, and accrued thousands of readers and followers over the years. Now the author of this popular blog has published a book, and just in time for the holidays. …
When I picked up The Goldfinch, I wasn't sure what to expect. I knew it was quite a hefty novel, clocking in at over 700 pages, and that in itself was a little intimidating, but the description o…
Kate DiCamillo always writes the most charming books imaginable, and this one is no different. I will admit that even though the cover is so cute, and the synopsis sounds interesting, I hesitated to r…
Neil Gaiman seems to be a very comfortable author. Whether he is writing books for children, teens, or adults, his books always have something others don't offer: a spectacular imagination. His books …
