Books and reading have always been an important part of my life. When I was very young, my grandma was the library director at our local public library. Years later, after she had retired, I became a librarian at the same library and worked there for several years before taking a part-time job at a local coffee shop, which gives me more time to do what I love, to read and to review books! A few of my favorite authors are Aimee Bender, Diane Chamberlain, and Curtis Sittenfeld however, I will read almost any book I come across! In my spare time you can find me reading (of course), volunteering at a wildlife animal rehab, or hanging out with my three house rabbits.
I find the title and cover of this book to be delicious. A street by the name of Cinnamon? (Would it be a spoiler to say that there are other streets mentioned in this book that also have the names of…
I waited a long time to pick up and read this book. (Actually, I picked up my Kindle and read this book on there, so maybe that has something to do with it.) But once I started reading it, I could har…
Adultery isn't normally a subject that would appeal to me. Of course, I had no idea that this book centered around infidelity when I picked it up, but nevertheless, after I realized it, I read it and …
James Patterson is a very well-known author, and I have read quite a few of his books. At one point I was slightly addicted to his young adult series, Maximum Ride. I read some of his stand-…
Before reading this book, I kept hearing all of these foreign (to me) terms, or "buzzwords":  Paleo diet, leaky gut, autoimmune disease. What did they all mean? Who did they apply to? I wasn't re…
If you have recently read Labor Day and want more of Joyce Maynard's writing, I would highly recommend you try The Usual Rules. This book isn't new by any means, it has been in pub…
I am curious--what makes a book a "good" book? Why did I suddenly start seeing the cover of this book everywhere I turned? My friends were adding it to their shelves on Goodreads, book reviews were be…
Vacations are meant to be fun, carefree, and relaxing, right? They are supposed to be a break from reality, perhaps a faraway place where the traveler can leave their troubles behind and find solace a…
I'm sure at some point in your life, you have felt invisible. Whether it is because you are speaking and no one is listening, or you do a good deed and no one notices, or any number of reasons. Perhap…

Pie

Who doesn't love a slice of good pie? Cherry, pecan, pumpkin, apple...it makes my mouth water just thinking about all the yummy flavors and varieties! I have always been the pie maker in my family, so…
I have always been quite fascinated by religious cults and the people living life within them. The story we receive in Girl at the End of the World is one at first of terror and shame, and l…
Most humans have some kind of curiosity that drives them. Whether it be curiosity about another person (or persons), about life, about love, about death--the list goes on and on. So I think anyone who…
