Books and reading have always been an important part of my life. When I was very young, my grandma was the library director at our local public library. Years later, after she had retired, I became a librarian at the same library and worked there for several years before taking a part-time job at a local coffee shop, which gives me more time to do what I love, to read and to review books! A few of my favorite authors are Aimee Bender, Diane Chamberlain, and Curtis Sittenfeld however, I will read almost any book I come across! In my spare time you can find me reading (of course), volunteering at a wildlife animal rehab, or hanging out with my three house rabbits.
I would have never heard about this book if it weren't for a patron requesting it be purchased for circulation at the library where I work. I would have missed out on a magnificently written book. …
When I started reading this book, I wasn't expecting anything special. Actually, I wasn't even planning on reviewing it. However, once I was a few chapters in, I knew this would be a book I would want…
A few years ago, I picked up Dear Life, having never read anything else by Alice Munro, and rarely, if ever, having had read a collection of short stories. I could hardly get through this bo…
The cover of this book is intriguing. It reminds me of something medieval or mythological. So, although I didn't have the slightest idea what The Enchanted was about, I was hopeful it w…
Every time I read a book by Elin Hilderbrand, I am convinced yet again that the island of Nantucket is some sort of heaven. (Who wouldn't want to live on a beautiful island where little shops abound a…
When I was a teen, I would snatch up any book that was dystopian, or set in the post-apocalyptic future. Nowadays, I am a bit more selective as I have broader horizons in my reading goals, and it seem…
I think before I started reading this book, I subconsciously made the decision to avoid reading anything about it. I was seeing it on the covers of book review magazines, and hearing about it from fri…
I've read numerous books by Lisa Scottoline. For the most part, they seem to run along the same lines, but perhaps I am just too harsh on mystery novels. I often feel, when reading a mystery, tha…
This book was quite interesting, to say the least. Somehow, when I began reading it, I was under the impression it was non-fiction. For the first three-quarters of the book I thought I was reading a b…
I have always been fascinated by large houses, even if they aren't quite mansions. When I was young, some of my favorite books involved detailed descriptions of houses that the characters lived i…
Eavesdropping rarely gets a person very far. Whether you are a child just learning this or an adult who stumbles upon a conversation and forgets how much trouble secretly listening to a conversation c…
I must say that I have never read a book quite like this one. It has been compared to The Road and Stephen King, but it almost seems to be in a category all its own. I can think of a few you…
