Jen Turano is an expert at humorous historical fiction. A Match in the Making is a great start to The Matchmakers series. The situations that Turano crafts for the main characters are quite laughable. It is not hard to picture the indignation and appall that is felt as the lead characters do things that buck traditional roles for the time period. The story takes place in the late 1880s and includes all of the usual elements of political posturing and making suitable matches, but it is so much more. The characters are witty, silly, and in some cases just plain ridiculous. They come across as charming and fun. Reading this story is truly a pleasure and it goes so quickly. If you have read Jen Turano before and are hoping this story is similar in style to her other offerings, you will not be disappointed. If you are looking for dry, serious, stuffy and boring, then this book will fail to ignite your interest in every way. Readers will be looking forward to the next book in the series if for no other reason than to see how their favorite characters fare in the proper romance arena.
