Books and reading have always been an important part of my life. When I was very young, my grandma was the library director at our local public library. Years later, after she had retired, I became a librarian at the same library and worked there for several years before taking a part-time job at a local coffee shop, which gives me more time to do what I love, to read and to review books! A few of my favorite authors are Aimee Bender, Diane Chamberlain, and Curtis Sittenfeld however, I will read almost any book I come across! In my spare time you can find me reading (of course), volunteering at a wildlife animal rehab, or hanging out with my three house rabbits.
Looking for something a bit dark and deadly to read this summer? Starlings is a new release that you won’t want to miss! This is a book with lots of unexpected twists and turns, so many thin…
Reminiscent of Gathering Blue and The People of Sparks, both dystopian books in their own respective series, Giften is set in what I interpreted to be the looming future.…
I think we can all agree that most people have a memory or two that they would like to be rid of, whether it’s something embarrassing that’s happened or something sad or harmful. But what if you had t…
Natasha Preston has written quite a few YA books in the past several years and The Island is her most recent hot release. Reading the synopsis of this book, I was intrigued--a sneak peek weekend at a …
Though I’m undecided on whether or not I believe in ghosts, I do enjoy a good ghost story every now and then. Usually, the book I end up choosing is YA or middle grade fiction and is pretty low key. T…
I wasn’t surprised when this book seemed to start out a bit predictable. I’ve read lots of books with the “jealous ex-girlfriend goes missing, ex-boyfriend suspected of foul play” storyline and I was…
Just in time for spooky season, if that’s your thing, Secrets So Deep is a mystery and a ghost story about a girl in search of answers and the limits she will push to get them. It’s also a b…
This was a book high on my to-read list for September, and though I wouldn’t say it was the best book I have read this year, I really enjoyed Cai Emmons writing style and will be on the lookout for mo…
Are you looking for a book that will make you nostalgic for McDonald's Playlands and arcade games? I should probably mention that there are some run-ins with some huge spiders and other creepy, nightm…
From the beautiful cover to the last page, this novel in verse was an easy book to fly through and come back and read parts again to really understand what the protagonist is feeling and experiencing …
I don’t know about you, but my summer days as a teen were pretty low key and consisted of reading as many books as I could to log for the local library's summer reading program. Even if I did go on an…
It’s no secret that I love a good YA book; in fact, I often seek them out over other genres and age groups because of how great they are. Summer has always been my favorite season, and if you tell me …
