Books and reading have always been an important part of my life. When I was very young, my grandma was the library director at our local public library. Years later, after she had retired, I became a librarian at the same library and worked there for several years before taking a part-time job at a local coffee shop, which gives me more time to do what I love, to read and to review books! A few of my favorite authors are Aimee Bender, Diane Chamberlain, and Curtis Sittenfeld however, I will read almost any book I come across! In my spare time you can find me reading (of course), volunteering at a wildlife animal rehab, or hanging out with my three house rabbits.
This book was not your typical young adult novel. Although the storyline reminded me a little bit of The Fault in Our Stars, the novel had this foreign tone, and I wasn't sure what I was missing …
I don't know what it is with me lately, but somehow all the books I have been reading have the main themes of teens, bullying, and murder. They've all been surprisingly good books, so I am not complai…
Beastly is so last year. And obviously author Roasmund Hodge knows this, because in Cruel Beauty I felt like she one-upped Beastly in several ways. One of these bein…
This book is an interesting read told from the point of view of three of the main characters--two in "present day" and one in the past. The way the author chose to tell the story from different viewpo…
I must be honest here--sometimes I choose books based solely on their covers. Actually, I think this happens more often than not. It is so much easier to be attracted to a book that has a pretty cover…
Have you ever read a book and summed it up with the word "cute"? This book was the epitome of cute. I saw a close resemblance in it to other authors who write fiction books with a hint of romance--Jan…
I remember seeing the headlines about the rescue of three girls that had been missing. I remember thinking it was just another abduction, but being happy they had been found and were safe. My life was…
There are certain authors that I make a point of trying to read all of their books:  Jane Green, Jodi Picoult, Lisa Genova, Elin Hilderbrand...just to name a few. Emily Giffin is also o…
While I was reading this book, I felt as though I were actually living the life of Ali, the main character, in this captivating story that could be a very believable headline story in People …
There has been a lot of buzz about this book this summer.  And it is well earned.  Although I didn't quite get into this book as much as I did Eleanor & Park and Fangirl, …
I jumped into this book without knowing anything at all about the story. This is what the author wanted, but it wasn't an intentional move on my part. I just knew this book was getting a lot of praise…
I had this book marked as "to-read" on my Goodreads shelf for quite some time. When I saw it at a library about an hour away from where I live, I snatched it up. It was shelved in the teen section, bu…
