Hidden Heroes in WWII provides short biographies of several notable figures from demographics that are sometimes overlooked in history: women, LGBTQ individuals, and people of color. Each of these stories is very exciting. Someone who has studied World War II history has likely heard of or knows a bit about some of them, but a few are quite obscure. It’s likely that even a history-buff reader will find a new face of a hero to take away from this book, along with an interesting story. The young readers that this book was written primarily for will likely have heard few of these stories, so the entirety of the book will be a discovery. This book is more solid with facts and compelling stories than many written for this age group.
