Dragons, magical powers, spells, curses, the fight of good vs. evil – this book is full of fantastical adventures young readers love. In Shine of the Silver Dragon readers continue to follow Draco and the dragon masters in their quest to stop Maldred and his evil magic. As with most of the books in this series, a new dragon master is introduced along with her dragon. Teamwork is a central theme as well as overcoming evil with powerful magic.
This is a great series for young readers, boys and girls. This is the eleventh book in the series created as part of the Branches division of Scholastic. The chapters are short (average of 6 pages) with lots of pictures to illustrate the story. The reading is on a Grade 2 level. While it is a part of a series, you could pick it up and be able to get a sense of what is going on. However, I recommend the whole series. At the end of this book, there is a page with ideas for further discussion, writing prompts, and art relating to the story.
