This particular edition is the first three books in the seventeen book series.  (There is also a spin-off series called the Dragon Kingdom of Wrenly.)  The Wrenly books are chapter books, really targeted at the emerging readers between the ages of six and nine-years-old.  The sentence structure is relatively simple and straightforward, but the vocabulary is a little more robust.  This was interesting because there are so many fabulous and delightful illustrations, one on almost every page, that the books read almost like a picture book.

This is a fantasy series where two friends, Prince Lucas and Clara, go on various adventures and meet fantastical creatures along the way.  For those readers who love adventure, knights, castles, and fairies, this would be a series they would thoroughly enjoy.  The plentiful illustrations support the storyline and make these quick reads for beginning readers.
