Coastal Oregon is a pleasant setting for Irene Hannon’s Sea Rose Lane.  The small town of Hope Harbor provides a picturesque location for characters to find renewed hope and discover new direction in their lives.

The main characters are likeable and have an authentic feel to them.  Many of the peripheral characters add interest and quirky personalities to the mix.  The primary focus of the story is on the romance developing between BJ and Eric.  Although this story is enjoyable, the subplot revolving around Luis was almost more poignant and touching.

There is no rush to get to the end of the story, but Hannon does a nice job of keeping the plot progressing while maintaining the slow-paced, small town vibe.  Although this book is the second in the series and the characters from the first book are mentioned here, their roles are very small and understated.  Because of this, a reader can pick up this book and not feel lost.
