She's never been interested in settling in one spot--after all, houses are just places that collect junk and tie you down. But when she literally bumps into local dog breeder Finn Chaffey on Prince Edward Island and all the tools of her trade end up in the harbor, she can't exactly leave until she gets things sorted out. Finn is horrified by the part he played in the accident and offers to help, arranging for Cretia to stay with a friend at the beautiful Red Door Inn. The longer Cretia is forced to remain in one place, the more she discovers what she's been missing with life on the road--and the more she wants to see Finn and his business succeed. Sometimes You Stay

by Liz Johnson

Overall Book Review:

Sometimes You Stay by Liz Johnson is a standalone novel that is part of A Red Door Inn Romance collection. Every book Liz Johnson writes about Prince Edward Island lures the reader to take a trip and experience the beauty there. If you have been there, you will be transported back to the beautiful area. The premise of the story is interesting as a person gets stranded there because her electronics are ruined and it takes days to reclaim them.

The scene is set for romance to blossom between the two main characters, Cretia and Finn. However, the author had a lot of cheesy phrases that did not appeal. In fact, it was rather off-putting. It turned the budding romance into meme worthy snippets and felt shallow. The choice of words also seemed to make the characters seem like they were high schoolers falling in love. It might have worked for some people, but it didn’t feel quite right.

The story had elements of romance, little in terms of action/adventure, and a beautiful setting. Perhaps the book would have been better off described as a fictionalized travel brochure. Enjoy the beauties of Prince Edward Island through the words of this book. It is a lovely place to visit and who can resist the lure of adorable Highland cows.
