Irene Hannon’s Undaunted Courage series starts off with Into the Fire. In many ways, this is a classic “tough woman thinks she can do it on her own had to admit she might need some help” type story. In other ways, it is focused on the mysterious deaths that are seemingly coincidences or just accidents. Plenty of danger lurks around almost every corner.

The story of Bri Tucker and Marc Davis was interesting, but it was also just a little too formulaic. Some of the characters’ conversations were almost brazen, and it felt a bit forced. Relying a bit more on natural progression would have been good. That being said, there were other parts of their relationship that were sweet and invited readers to connect with them.

Danger and unsolved issues made the story more interesting for sure. In classic Hannon form, there are some red herrings and lots of fire and explosions. Some of the explosions were more of the romantic type. Explosions of the heart some might say. Dive in for excitement, romance, mystery, and danger. This book won’t be short on any of these things.
