Book Review

Publisher's Note:

The last thing Addy Davidson wants is to be on a reality TV show where the prize is a prom date with the President’s son. She’s focused on her schoolwork so she can get a scholarship to an Ivy League college, uncomfortable in the spotlight, never been on a date, and didn’t even audition for it. But she got selected anyway. So she does her best to get eliminated on the very first show. Right before she realizes that the President’s son is possibly the most attractive guy she has ever seen in person, surprisingly nice, and seemingly unimpressed by the 99 other girls who are throwing themselves at him. Addy’s totally out of her comfort zone but that may be right where God can show her all that she was meant to be.…

Overall Book Review:

What teenage girl wouldn’t die to be given the opportunity to be on a reality television show to potentially become prom date to the President of the United States’ hotty son? Well, Addy, for one. She just wants to focus on school and get good grades so she can get into an Ivy League college. Unfortunately, her principal has already signed her up so she’s stuck being on the show. Can something that begins terribly have a happy ending? I found this to be a really cute book and enjoyed the “realness” of Addy throughout the story. It was interesting to see how the other characters responded to her and how her example influenced others. This book frequently refers to religious subjects so it may primarily appeal to Christian audiences but that’s not to say others won’t enjoy it as well. As a fun, yet thoughtful read, I recommend First Date!

About the Reviewer

I love being able to help busy parents who just don’t have the time to pre-screen all their children’s books and know how much I appreciate it as my sons have gotten older. I feel very blessed that my amazing husband makes it possible for me to be a stay-at-home mother to four amazing boys. When not reading or enjoying time with my family, I like baking, especially trying new recipes, and the occasional sewing project.
