A fairy tale twist always makes for a fun read and Becoming Cinderella is no exception. Author Lecia Crider takes the well-known Cinderella story but modernizes it and throws in enough twists to keep you guessing. Her ability to appeal to all your senses also brings the story to life. The main character, Dani, dives in headfirst when given the opportunity to make all her dreams come true; unfortunately, she failed to consider all the bad that comes with the good. Luckily for her, she has a wonderful best friend who not only believes her situation but is always there to help and support. Of course, there had to be an evil stepmother who throws a wrench into her “happily ever after” and this one plays her role well. Reluctant female readers will likely enjoy this short, enchanting story.
