Book Review

Publisher's Note:

Readers of I Am Number Four, The Maze Runner, and Legend will love this sophisticated adventure series by the cocreator of the groundbreaking television show Twin Peaks, with its unique combination of mystery, heart-pounding action, and the supernatural. After exposing the sinister underground society of students known as the Knights of Charlemagne, Will West stays at the Center over the summer to explore his newly developing physical and mental abilities. Meanwhile, his roommates investigate the Knights' shadowy purpose and discover unsettling information about their own backgrounds. Will and his friends must quickly figure out what's going on and separate friend from foe as they prepare for the coming fight.…

Overall Book Review:

Book two of The Paladin Prophecy, Alliance, picks up seven months after book one. After Will and his roommates realize they have special abilities, they go to work trying to figure out where their abilities came from. In addition, they’re trying to find out more about The Paladin Prophecy, who the bad guys are, and if there’s a connection to them and their school. The Alliance formed by the roommates at the end of book one becomes stronger and more focused as they all feel a sense of urgency to prevent the supernatural villains from ending the world. This is a book of discovery, but it has its share of action as well. We also get to once again enjoy a little comic relief from Nick, who is always either trying to be funny or is so clueless you can’t help but laugh. The hint of romance from book one is developed a bit more and adds a little drama because “every girl needs a hero”. A few unexpected turns at the end really made me excited for book three. If you enjoy a sic-fi story with action and a touch of romance, pick up this great read.

About the Reviewer

I love being able to help busy parents who just don’t have the time to pre-screen all their children’s books and know how much I appreciate it as my sons have gotten older. I feel very blessed that my amazing husband makes it possible for me to be a stay-at-home mother to four amazing boys. When not reading or enjoying time with my family, I like baking, especially trying new recipes, and the occasional sewing project.
