"Childhood memories are sometimes covered and obscured beneath the things that come later, like childhood toys forgotten at the bottom of a crammed adult closet, but they are never lost for good"

New York Times Bestselling author Neil Gaiman conjures up pure magic with his latest novel, The Ocean at the End of the Lane. Though Ocean is less than two hundred pages, the story packs a punch with vivid details, lyrical phrasing, and masterful storytelling. Without giving too much away, the book begins with a middle-aged man reminiscing about an event that happened when he was seven years old. The plot is deeply mysterious and the boy soon finds himself in a fight between good and evil (with touches of Harry Potter-esque magic). Ocean is beautifully composed, hard to put down, and reminds us that there is true magic in friendship and childhood.
