Overall Review:

Prince Etcheon and the Secret of the Ancient is an intriguing journey of a prince destined to saved his imperiled kingdom. JoAnn Arnold's writing is picturesque, each page a new beautifully painted canvas. It did take a bit of time for the book to get to the exciting parts, but it is due to the fact that a lot is required to prepare Prince Etcheon for the future and you meet some incredible characters along the way. It is also interesting to watch the prince evolve and grow as he is being readied for what is yet to come. For a book that involves war, it doesn't include the typical gory details and discusses strategies and alternatives to fighting, which was very refreshing. There is even an unexpected, comical twist mid-war to lighten the mood. Enjoyable for both male and female audiences!
