Overall Review:

Books Can Be Deceiving combines many loved themes: libraries, books, small coastal towns, good friends and of course, a murder mystery.  This story creates interesting characters and draws readers into their lives.  Be prepared for a longing to smell the salty air and hear the ocean waves.  This was fun to read and the author's descriptions made things easy to imagine.  The conclusion of the book leaves one wanting to know more about the history of the varied characters in the story, but also satisfactorily resolves the murder mystery.  Some of the lines in the story actually produced an auditory laugh from this reviewer and that is an extremely rare feat.  As this is the first in A Library Lover's Mystery series, one can look forward to additional tales from the coastal town of Briar Creek.
