Overall Review:

If you could make a wish, any wish, that would make your life perfect, would you make it? We all think the other guy has it all, the perfect life. We also think we know what would make our lives perfect. Mackenzie is no exception. She makes a wish but her wish comes true! As warned though, it comes at a price. Now she has to decide if that price is too high.

Chasing Midnight is such a great story with an underlying Cinderella theme. The author, Courtney King Walker, does an excellent job of developing the characters in each "life". You'll make many assumptions of how things will be as Mackenzie becomes a "lucky one", but I guarantee that Walker will throw some surprises your way. What is the most interesting part is that you get to see many characters from different perspectives, how they would act if their circumstances were just a bit different. You also get a peek into what makes some of them "tick" as Mackenzie becomes close to characters she wouldn't have otherwise been able to get to know as well. Walker gives us a gratifying, quick read in Chasing Midnight that will not only entertain but also help you realign your priorities, and I look forward to checking out more of her work.
