Publisher's Note:

Interior Freedom leads one to discover that even in the most difficult circumstances we possess within ourselves a space of freedom that nobody can take away, because God is its source and guarantee. Without this discovery we will always be restricted in some way and will never taste true happiness. Author Jacques Philippe develops a simple but important theme: we gain possession of our interior freedom in exact proportion to our growth in faith, hope, and love. He explains that the dynamism between these three theological virtues is the heart of the spiritual life, and he underlines the key role of the virtue of hope in our inner growth.

Overall Review:

No one can say enough good things about this gem. It is difficult to objectively review a book that you feel was written specifically for you. In Interior Freedom, Fr. Jacques Philippe dazzles once again with a concise yet profound treatise on interior life. This is by far the simplest, richest and most engaging book on Christian spirituality that I have ever read.

Interior Freedom discusses the importance of finding a place of peace within ourselves that will help us to stand strong no matter what life throws at us; it also explains how to do this. Fr. Jacques explains the importance and role of the Holy Spirit and the theological virtues of faith, hope and love in our spiritual growth. He explains that “badness isn’t all bad” and uses scriptural references and the examples of the saints to teach us how to deal with difficulties we may experience in life. With simple language and easy methods, he explains how to train oneself to find inner peace, joy and total dependence on God. Far from encouraging living a reclusive life, Interior Freedom shows how we can thrive in the world, while emphasizing the importance of interior time and living and doing good in the present moment.

Packed with wonderful quotes that induce Eureka moments, this book shows you that you knew all along how to find peace and happiness. On freedom, Fr. Jacques Philippe has this to say: “Being free is consenting to what we did not originally choose.” He also says of suffering, “What really hurts is not so much suffering itself as the fear of suffering. If welcomed trustingly and peacefully, suffering makes us grow.” For maximum impact, Interior Freedom should be read prayerfully and slowly instead of all at once. Meditating on one or two pages daily will be of great benefit to anyone at all who wants an inner renewal.
