Overall Review:

The second book in the Race the Wild Series by Kristin Earhart, Great Reef Games is a beginning reader book for those readers cutting their teeth on chapter books (7 to 8 year olds). In this leg of the race the reader joins the characters in Australia, snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef.

Like its predecessor book, Great Reef Games is an exciting adventure that moves at a great pace.  The competition aspect keeps readers invested in the story and propels them forward to the end of the book.  The familiar characters remain very relatable and they face a whole new set of social challenges, like what it really means to be a good leader.

As in Rain Forest Relay, the first book in the series, there are interesting fact pages throughout the story, this time about the Great Barrier Reef
