Publisher's Note:

A completely unique and in-depth look at the creator of Minecraft, Markus "Notch" Persson, and his rise from unknown computer programmer to multi-millionaire international gaming icon. Minecraft, the "virtual Lego" game Markus crafted in his free time, has become one of the most talked about activities since Tetris. Talked about by tens of millions of people, in fact. It is the story of unlikely success, fast money, and the power of digital technology to rattle an empire. And it is about creation, exclusion, and the feeling of not fitting in.

Here Markus opens up for the first time about his life. About his old Lego-filled desk at school. About the first computer his father brought home one day. But also about growing up in a family marked by drug abuse and conflict. But above all it is the story of the fine line between seeming misfit and creative madman, and the birth of a tech visionary.

Minecraft: The Unlikely Tale of Markus "Notch" Persson and the Game that Changed Everything is a Cinderella story for the Internet age.

Many of the people that interested in this review will be parents looking into this book for their children. Children who are obsessed with this game called Minecraft--which is still quite confusing to me. No, I didn't read this book to try to better understand this game that has become a worldwide phenomenon. I wasn't expecting to suddenly realize all of the fun I had been missing. I've tried to play Minecraft-- really. I have. Although this book made me think I should perhaps try again, I'm not quite there yet.

If you love Minecraft, or if you have a child who loves Minecraft, read this book! It doesn't give any tutorials or how-tos like so many other books about the game, but instead, it tells the story behind the creator of Minecraft. It explains how a young man still lived at home with his mother after he had reached adulthood. His mother started to despair that he would ever find his place in the world. And then, Markus Persson found his place. There are many more details that this book covers.  Not only is it a fun book for an adult to read, but younger readers will be really inspired by Markus' story of success.
